Advantix Partners with Zebra Technologies to Integrate
SmartSIM Functionality into Zebra Hardware
GREENVILLE, SC – Advantix, a ScanSource company and the MCx Provider®, has partnered with Zebra Technologies Corporation to integrate Advantix SmartSIM’s Access Point Name (APN) into the operating system of the latest Zebra Wide-Area Network (WAN)- or cellular-enabled mobile computers and tablets. The integration allows value-added resellers (VARs) offering Zebra WAN-or cellular-enabled mobile devices to expedite SmartSIM configuration and activation. Customers turn on the device and are “live.” Advantix is an Independent Software Provider (ISV) in Zebra’s award-winning PartnerConnect program.
SmartSIM™ provides multi-carrier connectivity with built-in redundancy. It connects WAN- enabled hardware devices to a dozen leading networks in North America and hundreds of wireless carriers worldwide via intelligent carrier switching. If the connection drops, the device will seamlessly switch to the next available carrier, ensuring persistent connectivity and business as usual.
SmartSIM’s multi-carrier capability and auto-failover feature, combined with Advantix’s proprietary SaaS platform for SIM and data plan management, have hastened adoption in Zebra WAN- or cellular- enabled mobile computers or tablets used in transportation and logistics, warehousing and distribution, manufacturing, field services, and healthcare verticals, among other industries.
Advantix has branded the quick-activation process Instant ON™, which aligns with the company’s managed connectivity experience (MCx®) strategy to reimagine the connected experience for partners and customers. This approach focuses on ease of deployment and enhanced visibility and control of usage via the company’s proprietary platforms and expense management expertise.
“Over the last two years, we have had great success working with Zebra and our parent company ScanSource to deploy SmartSIM connectivity in Zebra mobile computers for use inside and outside the four walls,” said Marco Andujar, director of engineering, Advantix. “This new integration supports physical SIMs and eSIMs and loads automatically for a near-zero-touch activation—something that would not be possible without our valued partnership with Zebra and the hard work of its teams and engineers.”
This announcement follows ScanSource acquiring Advantix as the launch point for its new Integrated Solutions Group (ISG). ISG aims to help VARs add value to their hardware offerings by stacking solutions, such as connectivity, software and managed services.
“ScanSource and Advantix are committed to supporting hardware VARs looking to grow their mobility business, while realizing higher margins and providing greater value to their end-user customers,” said Ansley Hoke, SVP, Integrated Solutions Group, ScanSource. “Now that Advantix is a part of ScanSource, we can further streamline our wireless enablement practice to benefit partners and their customers. Integrating SmartSIM’s APN into the OS of the latest Zebra WAN- or cellular-enabled mobile devices is just one step of many to come.”
