SCANSOURCE JOINS GTDC
GREENVILLE, SC - September 17, 2008 - At its annual Rising Star Awards event last night, the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) announced the addition of ScanSource, Inc. as a member. The GTDC is a worldwide association dedicated to the IT distribution industry, its growing value and continually evolving success in meeting the needs of today’s technology resellers, solution providers and retailers across the globe.
ScanSource, Inc., headquartered in Greenville, S.C., operates as a wholesale distributor of specialty technology products, providing two-tier distribution, sales and value-added services to resellers in the Americas and Europe.
GTDC members today represent more than $100 billion in annual sales with thousands of vendor partners and IT channel customers worldwide. The organization’s Vendor Summit: New Directions in Distribution conference held at the Fairmont Newport Beach, September 16-17, brings together top IT distribution industry executives and the world’s leading technology manufacturers and software publishers.
“We’re very pleased to welcome ScanSource to the GTDC,” commented Tim Curran, the organization’s chief executive officer. “They will provide a unique and valued perspective on the issues and opportunities of most importance to IT distributors and the vendor community as well as the reseller channel.”
The newest members of the GTDC were introduced during the organization’s Rising Star Awards ceremony that honors the fastest-growing IT companies based on their U.S. sales through member distributors over the past year (see related release: GTDC Announces 2008 Rising Star Award Winners). The event included a keynote by Mark Hurd, HP’s chairman and CEO. Today’s conference line-up provides a deep perspective on current market trends and how to continue strengthening supply-chain efficiency, channel reach and profitability.
GTDC Summit speakers today include keynote presenter Matt Medeiros, president and CEO of SonicWALL; prominent industry researchers, consultants and analysts; as well as distribution industry executive panelists covering key topics based on an interactive audience response system survey conducted live on site with vendor channel executives attending the conference.
GTDC Expanding Internationally
The success of the GTDC’s annual U.S. Vendor Summit, Investor Relations Conference, workshops and other activities has led to the creation of GTDC operations in Europe with similar events upcoming and planned for this region. The GTDC is scheduling its first European Vendor Summit (summer 2009), and the organization hosted its inaugural – and highly successful -- European Investor Conference in London on June 11 this year.
